Heura Lab: A Signal in the Noise

The problem

Heura Lab uses AI to model human decision-making: what people will really do, not what they tell a survey. How do you draw that without landing on a brain, a lightbulb, or another head made of dots? Their brief was clear: abstract, not literal.

The solution

Brand therapy first, to hear how they talk about their own science. The identity came out of their own language: scattered observations, a pattern forming, one bright signal. Presented three directions to six people. The vote was unanimous.

Heura Lab identity: the heura LAB wordmark with a scattered dot signal mark

Heura Lab builds synthetic populations: AI models of real human behavior, so their clients can test a decision before they make it. The name comes from the Greek root of heuristic, to discover what is hidden.

The hard part of branding a company like this is that every obvious answer is a cliché. Brains. Lightbulbs. Faces built out of particles. Their founder said it plainly in our first conversation: make it abstract, not literal.

So we started where every project here starts, with questions. In brand therapy I listened to how they describe their own science, and the mark was already sitting in their vocabulary: scattered observations, a pattern forming, and then one bright signal. Insight arriving just before the decision.

I brought three finished directions to a room of six people, each with its own name, tagline, palette, and a look at how it would live in the world. They picked The Signal, and the tagline came with it: Every human is complex. We model that.

"Our whole company is about finding the hidden drivers of human decision-making and behavior, which no traditional survey can provide. Cindy gave us a logo that draws exactly that. She listened to how we think, then handed our own idea back to us sharper than we could have said it. Six of us were in the room, and the vote was unanimous."

— David Jiang, Founder, Heura Lab AI

The finished identity is deliberately deep and quiet: coffee, amber, and slate, with a single warm accent doing all the pointing. No neon, because their work is serious. DM Sans throughout, and a brand book so it stays consistent as they grow.
